Our History

We are Avi and Erica Quiñonez. Our daughter Averi was diagnosed at age 4 with Osteosarcoma (Bone Cancer). August 17, 2020: Doctors confirmed the diagnosis after a Biopsy was performed. The Cancerous tumor was in her left leg, right above her knee. Averi immediately started Chemotherapy for 10 weeks and then had surgery on December 3, 2020, to remove the tumor. We, unfortunately, had to replace her full left femur with an endoprosthesis because the cancer had already traveled up her bone. She continued her Chemotherapy and rang the bell in April 2021, showing everything was clear. 3 weeks later, she was having her port removed & the radiologist found she had 2 nodules in her right lung and had them removed a week later. 3 weeks after surgery, doctors discovered several more nodules in the same lung and now her esophagus. The Cancer was too aggressive, and there was no cure. She lived her last days happy and surrounded by her family's love. She passed on August 17, 2021, at home. In her memory, we want to help others, just like, so many helped us.

Our Star

The Make-a-Wish foundation of North TX were unable to complete Averi’s wish on time. But we got a surprise as this came in the mail. They were able to name a Star after our Averi. So when you look up in the night sky know that The Averi Quinonez star is shining bright just like her. 💫💛
